Biography

Originally from the United States of America, Kelly MacKenzie-Thurley is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Since completing her music studies, Kelly has sung in operas, concerts & recitals throughout the United States, Australia, United Kingdom, Italy, Czech Republic, Austria and Germany. She has performed with companies including Cincinnati Opera, Opera Australia, Sorg Opera and the Víg Özvegy Operetta from Hungary.
 

Her operatic roles include Despina in Cosi fan tutte, Gretel in Hänsel & Gretel, Thérèse/Tirésias in Les Mamelles de Tirésias, Suor Genovieva in Suor Angelica and the Princess in The Student Prince. In 1997, Kelly gave recitals in Lucca, Italy and in 1999 she toured Germany as the featured soloist in a Baroque chamber ensemble. 


Kelly has appeared as guest soloist with the Cincinnati Choral Society in performances of the Rutter Requiem, Britten Te Deum and Bach Magnificat in D.  In 2001 she featured in the Anthony Joseph Productions presentation of Music In The Night and sang the role of Merry in the Sorg Opera production of The Mighty Casey before moving to Sydney, Australia.


While in Sydney Kelly performed in Opera Australia productions that included The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro & Iolanthe as well as the AMcK Presentations production of The Merry Widow. In 2003 Kelly co-created the cabaret production Electric Cowgirls-Good Girls Go Country that was a feature of the 2004 Tamworth Country Music Festival and headlined the prestigious 2005 Australia Day Concert in Sydney. In July 2005 Kelly was the featured soloist in AMcK Presentations production of Scotland The Brave at the Brisbane Concert Hall and the Sydney Opera House.
 

After moving to London, Kelly was invited to perform in the world premiere of the new Stuart Greenbaum opera Nelson and formed the Midnight Company corporate ensemble, developing their new productions After Midnight and An Office Affair. Kelly also had a new cabaret musical Dial M For Martini written especially for her, which debuted at the Warehouse Theatre. With the birth of her first child, Kelly has taken time away from the stage and focussed on the development of her highly successful vocal studio, based at The Music Studios in Central London.
